Growing up in a small town in Virginia gave me some advantages when it comes to creating characters because of the time spent alone and or with some interesting individuals. I always enjoyed telling short stories and making the people around me laugh.
I was born and raised in Portsmouth, VA, and after graduation, I decided to join the Navy to see the world. The Navy was never a passion of mine and only served as a tool to get out of several situations I had going on as a teenager. Although the Navy wasn't a passion to this day, I feel like it saved my life and taught me the discipline that I so richly needed to make it in this thing called life.
People often ask me what drives me to write, and I find myself giving these long drawn out stories of how I started, but when I truly look back, I've always been a storyteller. I often found myself outside of the circle and dealt with some challenging situations when it came to building a friend base.
Today, when I sit in front of my laptop and start to write, my mind is clear, and it takes me on a journey with these characters, and I love it.
I wrote my first novel in 2007, (titled “Jenise” ) and it sat dormant until I met my beautiful wife Kimberly Griffin (titles: Through Daddy’s Eyes and Joey’s Boots) in 2011 and she encouraged me to publish my book and keep writing.
To date, I've written three more full-length novels titled ("The Materialistic Jungle" "Who Am I" and "Releasing Me" a biography about my wife's life story)
I've also written two short stories titled ("Damaged" and "Perfect")
Although I never had any biological children, God has blessed me through the years to be a part of so many children's lives, whether through relationships or family. Today I have two beautiful grandchildren whom I adore and nieces and nephews to help look after so they can become what they want to become in life.
I will continue to write these fiction stories so my audience can get away from everyday life and truly engage in some awe-wrenching storylines. My goal is to continue creating fiction novels for my readers to purchase additional books all while adding me to their favorite author’s list.
